Phoning in Phil the Phoenix, Jane Doe Rally, and more
The Maroon recaps the top stories from the week.
Episode Notes
The Maroon Podcasts section provides recordings and interviews taken from last week’s Jane Doe Rally protesting sexual violence and the University’s recent handling of fraternity sexual assault cases. Podcasts Editor Aubrey Barb also sits down with one-time Phil the Phoenix stand-in (and our co-editor-in-chief) Anika Krishnaswamy to discuss another aspect of campus culture: our elusive mascot, the art of Filling In For Phil, and whether UChicago has any school spirit. Finally, we review upcoming midterm and CPS school board elections, which will take place on Tuesday, November 3rd.
Editor's note: the Jane Doe Rally featured four guest speakers, including sexual violence prevention educator Ray Epstein. Project Reproductive Freedom member Charlotte Stokes read the list of demands drafted at the teach-in and grievance session earlier in the day. Read more about the rally in the article by Sasha Koeva (pronounced: Ko-eh-va) Brooks and Kostya Orlova.
